Military operations against Iran, and Iran’s retaliation operations, have shown that there is a systemic learning disorder in western military organisations that we must fix urgently.
For four+ yrs…. Ukraine conflict has exposed & highlighted the modern reality that there’s no longer such a thing as “operational depth.” Once a target is ID’ed — and there are many ways to do that — some mix of long range fires will nail it: rocket artillery, Drones, subsonic missiles, ballistic or hypersonic systems, etc.
And yet…. Some People seem surprised that Iran has built its force structure to do exactly that…. Strike w long shots… Take out radars, soak up (expensive) anti-missile defenses, hit fixed sites deep in rear areas. And the lack of magazine depth for US in particular is scandalous, considering the indications & warnings of recent years.

I’m sure there are those who have been fighting against the inertia of defense procurement (https://www.waru.edu/acquipedia-article/program-objective-memorandum-pom/budget-formulation) from within the establishment. How to give them agency is the problem. (So, thank you for your efforts!)
Thank you.
