Thank you, particularly for the Wiswesser article. It’s hard to know how the US would react to anything Putin does, as Putin probably has plans (favoring Republicans) for the US elections.

Many thanks this update. While a lot of attention is rightfully being directed to Ukraine's crying need for defences against ballistic missiles, I read almost nothing about the possibilities of defending against glide bombs. And yet they seem to represent one of the two main planks of Russia's ongoing and not ineffective offensive movements in the fortress cities of the Donbas. The tactics appear to be, infiltrate with small groups, if successful with larger ones and destroy as many buildings as possible with glide bombs, so that inhabitants are forced either to leave or be evacuated and there is no shelter left for defenders. Russia can thus boast that it has "conquered" cities like Bakhmut, Avdivka, Pokrosk etc., whereas they have largely been made unlivable and reduced to rubble. Russian forces are employing these very same tactics in Konstantynivka, Kramatorsk and Sloviansk.

Ukrainian forces seem to be pretty effective at stopping the infiltrators but can apparently do little about the glide bombs.

Can anything more be done and if so, what ?
