A recently released report from the Australian Senate Inquiry into Australia’s support for Ukraine highlights strong institutional and community support for Ukraine
Thank you for your article on the Senate Inquiry into Australia's support for Ukraine.
I made a submission myself and was glad to see that a favourable report eventuated. I also sent an email to my local member re the report and actually received a reply (didn't get a reply the first time I sent in email). The response whilst positive, reads like a ministerial that is sent to anybody or any organisation that asks a question ie. "Australia is committed to supporting Ukraine in the face of Russia’s illegal and immoral invasion. We remain steadfast in our commitment to support Ukraine and Ukrainians who are defending their people, their territory, and their sovereignty." and "The Australian Government Remains in close contact with the Ukrainian Embassy and our partners to ensure we are making the most effective contributions".
In general the sitting members email referred to what the Australian government has done and not what it should do. Our Defence Minister & Foreign Affairs Minister would probably send a similar message. Just more platitudes, how do we get concrete action?
I sent an email in response but have not a had a reply yet, early days.
Thank you, Mick. I hope that Ukraine will be getting more help from Australia.
Thanks Mick. Interested in your thoughts on the US decision to send troops to Israel with a THAAD battery when such a move was refused for Ukraine!

U.S. to Deploy Missile Defense System and About 100 Troops to Israel
Hi Folks. Just wrote up a quick article on the back of the US decision to send a THAAD battery to Israel.
I fully support this move for what that’s worth.
I do ask however why did Joe Biden not make a similar strongly deterrent manner for its other ally: Ukraine.
If Ukraine, like Israel possessed nuclear weapons, would the US have been a better ally to Ukraine. You can bet your bottom dollar they would have.
