I’m attaching a link to Lawrence Freedman’s latest Substack post - in case you haven’t yet read it - because although not strictly military, I believe the experience with sanctions on Russia raises interesting questions regarding their effectiveness (or lack of) should a time come to consider sanctions on China. Food for thought.

Not to take anything away from the Republic of Taiwan's military, but your photo of a "Taiwanese Tank" looks suspiciously like an M5. Do you know if that was supplied to Chiang Kai‐shek's forces before or after they fled to Taiwan?
Thank you, Mick! It is a major issue and topic of conversation in the US and not just from a military perspective, but global economic and supply chain impacts. I hope that you will also address then nexus between Australia’s interests with those of Japan, S Korea, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand. These other countries and their interests are overlooked in the US and it would be great to get your perspective on that.
