Because I'm a former writing instructor, I want to take issue with this sentence.
"He also conducts an examination of how the Ukrainians and Russians have adapted their tactics, organisations, operational approaches and strategic foundations for war-making throughout the war. "
It's biggest problem is that, unlike the previous sentence, you've put the narrative piece -- throughout the war -- at the end of the sentence. Your previous sentence puts " looking back over several decades" at the front end of the most important clause.
I think you want something more like
"He analyzes how, throughout the war, the Ukrainians and Russians have . . . etc" which also avoids repeating "war" within 5 words.
So much for my pedantry.
Book sounds wonderful. Having read so much of your stuff, I see how it's going to work. USNI is a nice feather that you can't put into a general's cap :-)
