This morning, I joined Anna Coren on CNN to discuss the latest developments in the war in Ukraine, including insights from my visit there this week. We discussed the U.S. aid bill for Ukraine, the long-range strikes by Ukraine against Russian oil infrastructure and prospects for the war in the year ahead.
Great discussion. I would add that it is not only hitting oil refineries but also large industrial production targets as far east as the Urals. Yes, it hurts the economy, but also it hurts Russian logistics to fuel IFV, APC, Tanks and any last mile trucking based logistics. Given western sanctions, replacing refining capacity is a much longer term issue so once these are damaged or lost, they are at best months and likely years away from bringing that capacity back online.
