This was well worth a read but I raised an eyebrow saying that in the Ukraine war 'the diplomatic window is 'narrowing'. Window? What window? It's been as clear as day that the russians are not negotiating in good faith, and the Ukrainians are only participating to avoid offending the Trump administration. I'd suggest a better metphor is that the cement in the diplomatic brick wall is hardening!

Dear General Ryan, you are essential reading in this era of changing warfare where "low tech" cheap/effective replaces hightech/ expensive/effective and imformation becomes the driver of effective militaries. Two thougjts:

1. This may seem the height of irony; it is not upon reflection - the next Nobel Peace Prize should go to Zelenskyy and the Ukraine as they have done the heavy lifting opposing putin's antiwest war.

2. Ignore diplomatic niceties - the indopacific from indonesia and australia to japan, the phillipines and S Korea should ally with taiwan .Xi response will be typical cpc rhetoric but unless he chooses a military response, he is impotent. He will apply economic pressure that hurts a demographically and economically struggling China too. And the Asian democracies should integrate economically, shielding themselves from China's economiç warfare. Several of them should nuke up in a formal military action. A non-US Pan-Asian nuclear deterrence ought to give Xi pause before he sends the PLA east.
